Welcome

Update: 8-2-2010

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking for your help in monitoring the reproductive status of deer in the state. Please record and report all deer seen - bucks, does, and fawns - between August 1 and September 30. The entered observations will be used to determine doe to fawn ratios, which are a part of the population estimation equation, and will help guide future management decisions.

Go to the Wisconsin DNR website at dnr.wi.gov and click on the "Operation Deer Watch" button under the Features section for more information and to get started.

2009 DMU Stakeholder Panel Overview

This site was assembled by the Wisconsin Deer Management Unit (DMU) Stakeholder Review Panel with support from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The 2009 DMU Stakeholder Panel originally met in early 2009 to provide input on DMU goal and boundary changes for the 2010 deer hunting season.

This input was considered during the development of WM-16-09 which was adopted by the Natural Resources Board (NRB) in October 2009. Subsequent legislative hearings in December 2009 prompted a January 2010 legislative request for the DNR to identify additional potential goal modifications. The 2009 DMU Stakeholder Panel was reconvened February 23, 2010 to consider these potential modifications.

In March 2010 the DNR held public meetings on deer management units. Click here for details

For convenience, the Panel Reports for both the original 2009 review and the reconvened panel's 2010 review are provided below along with a link to a page describing the final changes approved by the Natural Resources Board on March 16, 2010. Additional information can be accessed using the buttons at the bottom of the page.
